Reptiles & Amphibians @ Indian Pond

On Wednesday afternoon 10/3 I saw more turtles in one visit than any time this spring/summer: approximately 12. I believe most were Painted Turtles and some of the large ones could have been Eastern Red Bellied. Plus I spotted many tadpoles in a shallow area at the southern end of the pond. Birds spotted included a pair of Downy Woodpeckers and several Yellow Rumped Warblers.

The news about the turtles is very good. A few years ago there were turtle nappers active around Indian Pond. For a while the population had appeared to diminish.
